Kaarvan
Crafts Foundation
started from the belief that
women in low income communities have right to fair trade business and
marketing services
In 1998
Kaarvan (a program within Kahsf Foundation) developed its first cluster
of women entrepreneurs in a village along Kasur Road, Lahore. The
entrepreneurs produced handmade cards which won a Body Shop competition
thus providing the program with seed capital.
By
2008, Kaarvan was offering professional business and marketing advisory
services to over 2500 women entrepreneurs across Pakistan with a network
of four Fair Trade Outlets in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad.
Kaarvan is a
rapidly growing organization with plans to reach out to over 5,000 women
entrepreneurs within the next three years and to expand its network of
Fair Trade Outlets. |
